FINIS STABILITY SNORKEL: SPEED finisswim.com $39 The FINIS Stability Snorkel: Speed was launched this spring with several new features over FINIS’s previous models. The head bracket has been replaced with a cushioned resting spot for a swimmer’s forehead, and there are five settings to elon- gate the tube, which allows swimmers to customize the fit. The silicone mouthpiece pivots to the side, which allows swimmers to more easily take a drink or chat with lanemates between swims. The snorkel comes in four color combinations: black, teal, white, and yellow. TESTER FEEDBACK • • “I found that this snorkel really anchored to my forehead very well. There wasn’t a lot of movement during swimming and, more importantly, on the flip turns. The adjustable mouth- piece was a bit difficult to shorten or lengthen, though I did like the ability to turn the mouthpiece to the side while rest- ing between sets. The mouthpiece itself fit very comfortably.” • • “This new and improved FINIS snorkel is well done! It has a much sleeker profile that produces less movement in the turns and while swimming. The newly designed forehead strap is much more comfortable than the previous FINIS snorkel, distributing pressure across the forehead instead of in the center.” • • “The profile of the snorkel is very streamlined in that it curves with the skull, thereby minimizing drag. The resting point on the head is higher than most snorkels and very comfortable. I hardly knew it was there. The snorkel was so stable that doing flip turns was no problem since there wasn’t any shaking, and getting into a streamlined position felt similar to swimming without the snorkel.” TYR ULTRALITE SNORKEL 2.0 tyr.com $35 TYR’s Ultralite Snorkel 2.0 comes with a few different features. The button on the back of the head strap allows swimmers to quickly adjust the straps. The mouthpiece can be removed, which allows it to be cleaned easily. The snorkel also comes with two airflow restrictor caps, giving swimmers options to improve their lung capacity while swimming. This snorkel comes in black. TESTER FEEDBACK • • “The hydrodynamics of the snorkel are perfect, especially when coming off of the walls. It doesn’t pull one way or the other. The only thing I would ask for is maybe a little pad- ding on the forehead area. After about 200–300 yards, you can start to feel it pressing against your head pretty hard. Other than that, I think it’s an awesome product. If you want to focus on your body position and your body roll on your catch, this is a great tool to help you do just that.” • • “The soft plastic of the air restriction caps makes them fit snugly on the outlet of the snorkel so they won’t blow off. The two different air restriction options are great and allow you to choose how difficult you want it.” • • “The device fits tight and snug around my forehead and stays in its position during turns. The construction materials appear to be more durable and stiff than the snorkel that I currently use. Overall, very good product, design, materials, and construction.” 43 ju l y- au gu st 20 19
